Aqaba is a fusion of history, nature, and city life surrounded by picturesque mountains and blue sea.  Bathing in its year-long warm sun, Aqaba invites you to relax on its beaches, partake in the exhilaration of its water sports, and explore the coral reefs of the Red Sea, home to hundreds of different types of corals and sponges with their wealth of brilliantly colored fish.

Around its quiet streets and between its modern structures, Aqaba holds special monuments with a rich history beginning in the Iron Age, and continuing across ancient civilizations, from the Edomites, Nabateans, Romans, and Byzantines to Muslims.  A blend of cultures and traditions, and a long history as a trading center are reflected in the warm welcome the city extends to all visitors.

But that is not all-- the striking desert landscape of Wadi Rum and the Nabatean city of Petra, among the World’s Seven Wonders, are a short drive away. Aqaba, with its excellent accommodation and entertainment options, is an ideal hub from which to explore these sites.

Aqaba is a Jordanian coastal city situated at the northeastern tip of the Red Sea. Aqaba is the largest city on the Gulf of Aqaba and Jordan's only coastal city.

. . . . "Archaeological and spiritual splendour as enticing today as they were to kings, emperors, traders, prophets and pilgrims in antiquity.  Fascinating vibrant cities of contrast, uniquely blending old and new.  Stupendous, timeless desert, virtually untouched by humanity and its destructive forces.  Where weather and winds have carved imposing, towering skyscrapers, so elegantly described by T.E. Lawrence as "vast, echoing and God-like. . . . . .

A Rose Red City half as old as time, breathtaking landscapes of stupendous cliffs and walled avenues under crimson sunsets. . .

A Dead Sea, natures living miracle, to rejuvenate body and soul. . .

The Red Sea, teaming plethora of marine life, a diving and snorkelling delight. . ."

Jordan's only outlet to the sea, Aqaba is backed by purple-tinted mountains that are rich in phosphates. Beyond are the rose-coloured deserts of Wadi Rum.

Beneath the clean, crystal clear waters of the Red Sea, is a unique marine environment, where divers can discover Jordan’s amazing underwater wildlife. Brightly-coloured corals, sponges and sea fans are home to millions of reef fish and a range of invertebrates. Even the world's largest fish, the Whale Shark, visits these nutrient-rich waters. These harmless, gentle giants come to dine on the rich plankton harvests that flourish in the area. Other visitors include turtles, dolphins and sea cows.
